MORE SUPPORT, WITHOUT AN OVERNIGHT STAY

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Orange County

By the time most people look into PHP, they’ve already tried the version of “getting help” that’s supposed to work: weekly therapy, maybe medication, willpower. And it’s stopped being enough. That’s not a failure. It’s information: your symptoms are asking for more support than an hour a week can give them. PHP is the most structured level of care available without an overnight stay: full days of treatment, several days a week, for exactly that gap.

A DAY OF FOCUSED SUPPORT

What a Typical Day in PHP Looks Like

You arrive in the morning. There’s individual therapy, a process group where you’re not the only person in the room who’s had a week like yours, and skills work that’s less “lecture” and more “here’s what to do the next time it happens.” By the time you leave in the afternoon, you’ve done more real clinical work than a month of weekly sessions usually covers, because you’re not waiting seven days between insights to actually use them.

WHEN WEEKLY THERAPY ISN’T ENOUGH

Who Is PHP Right For?

Not a “type.” A depressive episode that stopped responding to less intensive care. An anxiety spiral that’s quietly shrunk someone’s entire life down to their bedroom. A recent hospitalization that needs a real bridge back, not a discharge folder and a phone number. PHP measures how much support gets you stable, not how sick you are.

YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS

Is PHP Treatment Confidential?

If part of what’s stopped you from getting help is the fear of who finds out (a boss, a colleague, a neighbor at the farmer’s market), that’s not a small concern, and we don’t treat it like one. Your treatment is yours. We don’t disclose it to employers, family, or anyone else without your consent, full stop.

YOUR NEXT STEP IN CARE

What Happens After PHP?

PHP isn’t meant to be permanent. It’s meant to get you stable enough to move to IOP or outpatient care, carrying forward what actually worked. Some clients also step into an integrative therapeutic activity (a hike, an art session, time with the horses) as part of that transition. It’s not instead of the clinical work, but alongside it.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT PHP

FAQ

Clear answers to some of the questions we hear most often. Don't see what you're looking for? Give us a call — our team is happy to help.

Will my employer know I’m in PHP?

No. We don’t share information about your treatment with employers, family members, or anyone else without your explicit consent.

How many days a week is PHP?

PHP typically runs five to six days a week, several hours a day. It’s the most structured level of outpatient mental health care available.

Is PHP the same as being hospitalized?

No. PHP is a non-residential program. You attend treatment during the day and return home each evening. It sits below inpatient hospitalization on the continuum of care.

How long does someone typically stay in PHP?

Length of stay is based on individual progress, not a fixed timeline. Most people step down to IOP once they’ve stabilized enough to need less daily structure.
