SUPPORT FOR HOW YOUR MIND WORKS

ADHD Treatment in Orange County

Adult ADHD rarely looks like the stereotype of a hyperactive kid who can’t sit still. It looks like a string of half-finished projects, a calendar you don’t trust yourself to manage without three backup reminders, or a mind that either can’t focus on anything or can’t focus on anything else once it locks onto something interesting. An estimated 6.0% of U.S. adults (about 15.5 million people) currently have an ADHD diagnosis, and more than half of them were diagnosed as adults, not as children.

SUPPORT THAT FITS YOUR NEEDS

ADHD Treatment Options: PHP, IOP, and Outpatient Therapy

ADHD is most often managed through outpatient therapy combined with medication management and skills-based coaching. When ADHD co-occurs with more acute conditions like anxiety or depression that are significantly disrupting daily life, IOP can provide additional structured support alongside ADHD-focused treatment.

BEYOND THE STEREOTYPES

How ADHD Shows Up in Everyday Life

An entrepreneur whose ADHD fuels genuine creative strengths but makes the administrative side of running a business a constant struggle. A parent diagnosed only after recognizing the same patterns in their child. Someone who spent years being called “smart but scattered” before anyone suggested it might be more than a personality trait. ADHD isn’t a lack of intelligence or effort. It’s a different way your brain manages attention, and it responds well to the right support.

Can adults be newly diagnosed with ADHD, or is it only diagnosed in childhood?

Adults can absolutely be diagnosed later in life. More than half of adults with a current ADHD diagnosis were diagnosed at age 18 or older.

Is ADHD just a focus problem?

No. ADHD involves difficulty regulating attention, impulsivity, and often emotional regulation. It can include both underfocus and hyperfocus depending on the task.

Does ADHD treatment always involve medication?

Not always. Medication is common and often effective, but therapy and skills-based coaching can be used alone or alongside medication depending on the person.

Which program is right for ADHD: PHP, IOP, or outpatient?

For most people, outpatient therapy combined with medication management is the right starting point, unless ADHD is co-occurring with another condition requiring more structure.
